Welcome to the beta version of JAM :- once you’ve opened the email with a zipped file called JAM***** you must uncompressed to a folder of your choice. Once uncompressed you should have two files :

JAM template.als
JustAddMusic

IAC Driver

Open up Audio MIDI setup found in Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup and select Audio Devices
Select the Midi Devices tab
Double click on IAC Driver
Make sure the ‘device is online’ tickbox is selected
Click more information
Click on the Ports tab
Add Port entitled “from ableton” and “to ableton” as shown on the picture above

Preferences in Ableton

Open JAM template.als
Inside Ableton Live click on Live > Preferences in top menu
Select the MIDI sync tab
As shown above, In Input IAC Driver (from ableton) turn on “track” “sync”
As shown above on Input: IAC Driver (to ableton) turn on ‘track’ ‘sync’ and ‘remote’
In Output IAC Driver (from ableton) turn on “track” “sync” “remote”

Loading movies in Just Add Music

In channel 1 Tab drag a movie, picture, flash file into C1.
Now in Ableton if you drag a song or .mov file into Deck 1 (Channel 1) and in the first scene (C1).
Now whenever you play the song in Ableton (C1) the media you dragged into the textbox in JAM will play.

BPM & Cue points

If your loading the same .mov .mp4 .avi video into JAM and Ableton and want things kept in sync
Set the BPM in JAM of the video to match the one in Ableton, in the example right the information needed to be entered into JAM is BPM = 120 and Cue Point = 0.01447

The cue information is found in the clip overview - sample display. The cue number is found under your start marker .

MIDI clock source

Inside the Just Add music tab you should see a textbox entitled Midi Clock Source, if you are using more than one midi clock source you must enter “from ableton” here or what ever you decided to call the port on the IAC Driver
